Tennyson
Canadian artist Tennyson, the project of musician Luke Tennyson Pretty, is known for meticulously crafted electronic pop built around imaginative, sample-rich production. His sister Tess Pretty plays drums for the live show and occasionally contributes to recordings, giving the project a distinct sibling dynamic.
Known for inventive, sample-driven production, Tennyson first gained attention for his early glitchy downtempo tracks before evolving into a bright, jazz-infused sound with the acclaimed Like What EP in 2015.
The duo’s creativity led them to major festival stages including Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits, as well as collaborations with artists such as Skrillex, Aloe Blacc, Njomza, and Mr. Carmack. Their 2017 EP Uh Oh! was released on Skrillex’s OWSLA label and marked a shift toward more dance-focused production.
After a series of singles and two 2019 EPs (Different Water and Telescope), Tennyson released Rot in 2022 on Ninja Tune’s Counter Records. The album showcased a more vocal-led, introspective direction and featured a collaboration with Rae Morris. Over the years, Tennyson has built a global following for his intricate sound design, emotional songwriting, and dynamic live performances.
