Julien Verschooris is a SOCAN Award–winning, CASMA-nominated composer whose work spans feature films, shorts, and commercial music for trailers and brand campaigns.
Of half-Chinese and half-French heritage, he brings a cross-cultural sensibility to his scores, blending textural electronics, vocal layers, and percussive detail with an instinctive, unbounded approach to composition.
His debut feature Dead Dicks won the Fantasia Audience Award in 2019, and his follow-up Coextinction earned a Canadian Screen Award nomination along with multiple festival honors. His documentary score was nominated for Best Original Music at the Jackson Wild Media Awards, placing him alongside Academy Award winner Steven Price and Blue Planet II composer Jacob Shea.
Julien’s work has also powered trailers, TV spots, and brand placements for HBO Max, Apple, and Hulu, including a Grand Clio–winning campaign for Made for Love.
He composes with a focus on emotional clarity and immersive world-building, shaping music that binds itself to narrative subtext and environment—creating scores that feel inseparable from the stories they serve.
