Jeangu Macrooy was born and raised in the vibrant heart of Paramaribo, Suriname, where his love for music took root at an early age. His passion led him to enroll at the Conservatory of Suriname, but after two years, he set his sights on a broader stage—relocating to the Netherlands to further pursue his musical ambitions.

It was there that a creative partnership with producer Perquisite began, leading to Jeangu signing with Unexpected Records. The collaboration marked the beginning of an exciting new chapter in his career.

Released on April 7, 2016, Jeangu’s debut EP, Brave Enough, showcases his distinctive voice and deeply personal songwriting. The record quickly gained national attention—earning him the title of ‘Serious Talent’ from Dutch radio station 3FM and an invitation to perform his breakout single “Gold” on the acclaimed Dutch talk show De Wereld Draait Door.

With a voice that commands attention and lyrics that resonate, Jeangu Macrooy continues to captivate audiences across borders, blending soul, depth, and authenticity in everything he creates.
